Yay! Today I’m excited to talk about my newly updated calendar cards for my DIY Children’s Calendar! Since switching my blog name last month, I have been slowly working my way through my Etsy listings updating the names on all of my printables. Well, one thing led to another, and I ended up updating ALL of my calendar card sets!
It started with wanting to add just a few new holidays to my holiday card set and in the end I added 58 new holidays!! I’m really excited about all of the updates!
This little DIY Children’s Calendar started as something I created to do with my kids at home back in 2015. I posted it on my blog hoping it would be useful to other parents and educators. Since then I’ve really been blown away with how many people send me pictures of the calendar they created with my printables. The majority of the calendar is offered for free on my blog – this includes all of the months, days of the week, calendars and the bunnies kids can dress for the weather.
I have added so many new things to the calendar since originally making it! The inspiration for a lot of these things came from all of you! Chatting with other moms and teachers from around the world to create calendar cards for other countries and in other languages has been a special treat I never expected to happen. My free calendar printables are now offered in Spanish, French and English. I also have calendar card sets in those three languages, plus holiday cards for Canada and the UK. All of these have been created with the help of readers!
Long story short – I am really excited to continue working on this DIY Children’s Calendar! I hope if you take the time to create the calendar, it becomes a fun activity for you and the kids you are creating it for! My holiday calendar card sets received the biggest and most exciting update! As I mentioned above, there are now 58 new holidays, observances and special dates. Some of the new cards include Flag Day, Patriot Day, Washington’s Birthday, Holi, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Eid al Fitr, Lunar New Year, Juneteenth, Pride, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, as well as the Olympics, Talk like a Pirate Day, World Recycle Day, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and International Women’s Day. So many new ones! New holiday cards have been added to all three of my Holiday Card Sets – US, UK and Canada!
My very first card set that I created with my original children’s calendar! This set received a big update and the same updates were applied to the Activity Card Sets in Spanish and French. The borders of these cards now match the rest of the free printable calendar in fun, bright colors. They now also include mini cards – the small 1″ x 1″ cards that can be placed directly on the free printable calendar pages. Some of the card illustrations were also updated and birthday cards added.
One of my favorite sets! I created this when my kiddos started school. The biggest update is all of the borders were also changed to match both my free printable calendar as well as the pocket chart calendar I sell in my shop. They now have bright, colorful borders. The set also includes mini cards and I added a bunch of new cards including School Assembly, Career Day, Food Drive, Crazy Sock Day, Johnny Appleseed Day, Nature Center, Safety Drills, World Autism Awareness Day and School Play.
