Daily Activity Cards

I created these cards several years ago when my children were little. We used them each morning during calendar time to prep for the day. After talking about the day of the week, marking the day on the calendar and looking at the weather, we would add a few of the activities we were planning to do that day. This was always a favorite part of the calendar for my kids!

While some of the activities we needed to add – such as a doctor’s appointment, chores or a scheduled play date – others could be kid’s choice! Some days my kids would look through the cards and help pick out activities they were excited about like puzzles or play-doh. It was a fun way to include them in planning their day.

What Cards are Included?

My Daily Activity card set has grown over the years as my kids have gotten older and have new activities they are interested in. The card set has also grown at the request of my amazing readers who have suggested new cards they would love to see added. The set will continue to grow but right now there are over 100 cards included! They cover everything from doctors appointments, hobbies, activities to do inside the home, outside the home, and more!

Bonus Activity Cards

A couple years ago, I started a “Free Monthly Calendar Card” series. Every month, I post a new free calendar activity card. You have the entire year to download them from my Free Resource Library. At the end of the year, the cards are retired and no longer available in the Library. They are added to my Daily Activity Card set as a fun bonus! Right now the retired cards from 2019 and 2020 are part of the set, as well as the cards from 2021 so far.

Below are a few of the cards from 2020 that are part of the Daily Activity Card set in my shop now.

How to Make the Activity Cards

These cards get a lot of use ,especially when you let kids pick through them. Laminating them is a great way to add extra durability. You can do this yourself a couple different ways. The first way is using a home Laminator and Laminating pouches. This is the method I use now and I love my little laminator! It is so quick and easy. After I laminate the full pages, I cut the cards out with a Paper trimmer. You could cut them first and then laminate them if you want a lamination border. This can help if they will be getting touched a lot by sealing the lamination around the card.

If you are using these cards with really young kids, you can also curve the corners using a corner punch! Below you can see an example of the corner punch in action a different set of calendar cards.

Two calendar cards lay next to each other on a wooden table, one with a sharp pointed edge, the other with a curved edge.

Another way to laminate the cards is using Avery Laminating Sheets. These are also very easy how I laminated my cards before getting a laminator. They will not be as stiff, but the paper cards will be protected. After laminating the page between two sheets you can cut out the cards.

How to Use the Daily Activity Cards

These Daily Activity Cards are a such a great addition to a children’s calendar, morning board or your morning routine with kids! I like to use them with Stikki-Clips, Learning Resources Clips or even Command Spring Clips! They are perfect for holding the cards and easy for kids to remove and add new cards to the clips.
