Countdown to Christmas Printable Activity
Little ones will enjoy counting down the days to Christmas with this cute, free printable! A quick and simple way to count down this December.
Hello Crafty Friends! It’s the fourth day of my annual series “12 Days of Holiday Crafts” and today I’m sharing a cute way for little ones to countdown to Christmas! This free printable only takes a few minutes to set up and little ones can countdown the days until Santa arrives. There are two versions, one that counts forwards, 1 to 25, and another that counts down, 25 to 1.
My tutorial will show you two quick ways you can set up the Christmas countdown, either as a tabletop game board or a page that can be hung. Both are simple, quick, and inexpensive!
Christmas Countdown Game Board
Supplies Needed:
- Free printables – Grab the free file by filling out the purple form at the end of this post.
- White cardstock
- Scissors or paper trimmer
- For table top version:
- Adhesive – I used 1/2″ Scor-Tape
- For hanging version:
Create the Countdown Game Board
Start by downloading and printing the free printable countdown. If you’d like you can trim the sides and attach the printable to a piece of red or green cardstock.
Table-Top Version
Create cute Santa game pieces by cutting out the rectangular pieces and folding them in half and along the small colored tabs.
Adhere the sides of the game piece together using double-sided tape or glue.
The game pieces are ready to be used on the Christmas countdown! Kids can move the Santa game piece each day until Christmas!
Hanging Version
This cute Christmas countdown can also be hung up! Instead of using the tabletop game piece, use a small Santa marker that can move from space to pace. I applied 3/8″ clear thin fasteners to each space on the game board. The rough side of the fasteners are clear ,so these are perfect to use on the game board. Place the soft side on the back of the Santa marker and it will be able to move along the path leading up to Christmas day!
Punch a hole in each top corner of the countdown game board and use yarn to create a hanger. It can now be displayed for the month of December. My daughter plans to hang this on her bedroom door but it can also be hung on the fridge or wall.
I hope you enjoyed this cute Christmas countdown! I hope you will continue to join me for the ninth year of my series “12 Days of Holiday Crafts“. I’ll be back tomorrow with day 5 and a new fun DIY holiday craft. In the meantime, you can also visit my Christmas craft page for over 100 DIY holiday craft ideas!
