DIY Halloween Sweater Treat Boxes

Create treat boxes inspired by cozy Halloween sweaters! Perfect for holding gift cards, Halloween candy, treats and small gifts!

Hello Crafty Friends! Today I’m exited to share a new version of my sweater treat box with you – this time a Halloween version perfect for spooky season! I recently created the cutest fall sweater box and had a lot of fun designing them that I decided to create some for Halloween. I made three sweater box designs each with their own unique color scheme and characters. 

These boxes are a great size for small treats, candy, tiny gifts and are also the perfect size for gift cards. Once filled, the boxes close by folding the collar pieces to the front of the box and tying them with a piece of ribbon or Baker’s twine.

These printable boxes are now available in my Etsy shop! I designed and created the boxes, one grid square at a time, using Photoshop. I was inspired by vintage sweaters. They were so much fun to make! The cute ghosts are my favorite – but I also love the little spiders. The printable boxes come with a PDF tutorial with detailed step-by-step pictures.   • White cardstock – I used Canon Matte Photo Paper
  • Paper trimmer and scissors
  • Scoring board
  • 1/4″ Score Tape
  • 1/8″ Hole Punch
  • Baker’s Twine
  • Printer – I have the Epson EcoTank 5880 Printer (I’ve linked to it on Amazon but I purchased mine on sale from Costco!)

Making the Treat Boxes

The printable packet comes with lots of detailed pictures and instructions for assembling the boxes. Below are the basic steps for making the box.

1. Print and cut out the treat box using a paper trimmer and/or scissors.
2. Score the treat box with a scoring board (following the scoring guide in the Etsy printable packet), then fold along the scored lines.
3. Apply double-sided tape to the tab and form the box. Fold in the bottom of the box.
4. Hole punch the top of the box, fill with treats or a gift card, and close the box with string. You can also staple the box closed instead of tying it closed with string.

Fill these boxes with autumn-themed candy and treats or use one to hold a gift card. These boxes would be sweet for small gifts at Thanksgiving or set at each place setting for added table decor.
