Mitten Coloring Page & Gift Card Holder
This cute printable coloring page is a fun holiday activity that can also be used as a gift card holder!
Hello Crafty Friends! It’s the 9th day of my series “12 Days of Holiday Crafts” and I’m excited to share a new coloring page with you! This cute mitten coloring page is a lot of fun to color AND it can double as a gift card holder!
Each year for the holidays we like to gift our teachers something special. My kids have been fortunate to have amazing teachers and we usually like to give them a gift card to their favorite coffee or sandwich shop. Just a little something to show we thought of them.
Since these gifts are for our children’s teachers we like to have them involved in making or giving the gift in some way. But this time of year is always hectic so something simple and quick is usually best!
I designed this coloring page so my daughter can color it and we can slip a gift card into each mitten. We plan on sliding the page into a manila envelope and adding a bow and gift tag to it. Simple and fun!
You can use this coloring page as simply a coloring page – or you can turn it into a cute gift card holder with gift cards in one or both of the mittens. Below is the tutorial and you can grab the free printable by filling out the purple form at the end of this post.
Love coloring page crafts? I have some really cute ones for the holidays like my Color-Your-Own North Pole Village or my Color-Your-Own Gingerbread House. Check out all of my free printable coloring pages for even more coloring page activities!
Printable Mitten Coloring Pages
Supplies Needed
- White cardstock – I like to print on 110lb white index paper or 65lb white cardstock.
- Sheet of construction paper or colored cardstock
- Craft knife and self-healing cutting mat
- Tape
- Coloring utensils – Here are a few of my favorites!
Coloring the Printable
Print the coloring sheet on white cardstock then start by coloring the printable with whatever coloring utensil you enjoy using! I used colored pencils for my pages and my daughter plans to use a combination of her markers and gel pens.
Making the Gift Card Holders
If you want to turn this coloring page into a gift card holder it’s really simple. Use a craft knife to carefully cut along the top of one or both of the mittens. The mitten is wide enough to fit a standard size gift card.
Cut pieces of construction paper or cardstock to cover the back of the mitten. I cut pieces that measured 3″ wide and 3.5″ tall. I positioned them 1/2″ above the cut line and taped them to the back of the coloring page around all four edges.
You will now be able to slip the gift cards into the mittens from the front of the coloring page. If you want to hide the pockets created on the back of the coloring page, you can cover the back of the page with another sheet of cardstock.
This coloring page is now ready to be gifted! A cute coloring keepsake with two fun gift cards!
I hope you enjoyed this cute coloring craft! I’ll be back tomorrow with another new craft for “12 Days of Holiday Crafts“.
