DIY Haunted House Slider Card
Learn how to make a frightfully fun Haunted House Slider Card this Halloween. This interactive card reveals a fun surprise when the insert is pulled out! A great Halloween craft to make with your cutting machine.
This Halloween create a unique and interactive card! This haunted house slider card is a great project to create using your cutting machine. It can be made with solid colored cardstock and a little bit of foam tape. The insert slides out to reveal four little ghosts peeking out of the windows and the word “BOO!”.
I love creating handmade cards for the holidays to surprise my family and friends with. This haunted house card measures 5″x7″ and can be displayed throughout the Halloween season. It could also be used as an invitation for a Halloween-themed party. There is room for party details and a message on the back of the insert.
Below you can see the card before and after pulling the insert up. The recipient pulls up on the chimney of the haunted house to reveal the fun surprises!
Choosing The Paper
For this card I chose to use a classic Halloween color palette of orange, black and purple paper. I added a in a bit of green as a fun accent color for some of the house details. You could make this card following the same colors I used or create it using your own color palette. Patterned paper could also be interesting to use!
This card will work best with a heavier weight cardstock. I like to use an 80lb cardstock, like Bazzill, for my interactive cards, this is usually a great weight to support the insert being pulled out and to make it sturdy for display. The paper is layered and separated by foam tape to allow the insert room to easily pull out.
A layer of Grafix craft plastic, or acetate, can be used to cover the ghosts. This not only gives the look of glass on the windows of the house, but it keeps the insert from getting stuck on the ghosts.
The SVG Cut File
The SVG cut file is now available in my Etsy shop and it comes with a picture tutorial on how to assemble the card. I love creating interactive cards this Halloween card is my favorite!
