It’s the eighth day of a Crafty Christmas and today I am so excited to share with you a new cross stitch pattern for this Winter Wonderland Wall Hanging! This project is created on a plastic canvas with bright and colorful yarn. It measures 12″ x 18″ and is finished off with fun yarn tassels along the bottom!
A few years ago, I created little treat boxes inspired by Christmas sweaters. Ever since creating those boxes, I have wanted to try cross stitching the designs. Last November I finally designed this canvas and started stitching!
I’ve worked on this project off and on for a year and absolutely love how it turned out! This was my road trip project, something I could easily bring with me whenever we were traveling. The plastic canvas has large holes, making it really easy to work with – even while in a car! This wall hanging is actually a pretty quick project when compared to traditional cross stitch using embroidery floss and Aida cloth. The large yarn stitches are perfect for creating bigger projects like this one without taking forever to complete!
The pattern is now available in my Etsy shop and includes a detailed tutorial for creating the wall hanging. The tutorial walks you through the basics of cross stitching on plastic canvas, plus it shows you how to create the tassels, finish the edges and back of the canvas and how to add the dowel for hanging.
I created my wall hanging in bright colors so I can leave it up all winter. Ever since finishing this one, I have been antsy to start another one in traditional reds and greens to hang up at Christmas time!
