Hello Crafty Friends! Today I have a new tutorial for making these cute Rainbow Treat Boxes – perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, rainbow-themed parties or really any time of year. I filled my boxes with Skittles, gold coins and shamrock rings and they made the best little favor boxes for St. Patrick’s Day!

These boxes come together quickly using a cutting machine. After cutting the box out of white cardstock, simply slip the free printable rainbow underneath the lid and the box is ready to be assembled.

DIY St. Patrick’s Day Crafts

I love crafting for this holiday and have some fun DIY projects on my blog!

DIY Rainbow Treat Box

Supplies Needed:

Supplies needed for rainbow treat box are spread out on a green mat.

Step One: Cut out all of the box pieces.

Use the free SVG Cut file to cut out the two box pieces. Make sure to change the score lines (in pink) to score rather than cut and “Attach” them to the correct pieces. To attach them to the correct pieces you’ll need to first “UnGroup” everything. Once they are attached you will be ready to cut! Double check the mats before cutting to make sure the score lines show up as dashed lines on each piece.

Print the free printable rainbow. The rainbow is formatted to fit the box lid perfectly. If you choose to change the size of the white box, you will need to adjust the rainbow as well.

Three paper pieces needed to create the rainbow treat box.

Step Two: Score and fold along the fold lines!

Once all of the pieces are cut and printed, it’s time to assemble the box! Fold along the scored lines of the box. If you have a scoring board and stylus, you can go over the score lines. I like to do this because although my Cricut Explore scores, I find going over it with a stylus makes a deeper and smoother score line. It isn’t necessary though!

The bottom of the paper box is scored on a scoring board.

Step Three: Adhere the rainbow into place.

Adhere the rainbow printable under the box lid so it shows through the cutouts. I used my double-sided tape, 1/4″ Scor-Tape. Make sure the rainbow cutout stays within the fold lines and peeks through with the color separated.

Double-sided tape is applied to the edges of the rainbow paper.

Rainbow paper peeks through the lid of the box.

Step Four: Assemble the boxes using double-sided tape and the tabs.

Adhere little strips of Scor-Tape to each tab on the lid and bottom of the box.

Rainbow paper is adhered under the lid of the box.

Double-sided tape is applied to the tabs on both the lid and bottom of the box.

The boxes are finished! This was a fun pattern to create and I love how pretty these boxes turned out. You could fill these with any fun rainbow candy or snack for the perfect treat! I filled my boxes with Skittles candy, chocolate coins and St. Patrick’s Day rings! *Keep in mind the paper you use is most likely not food safe, so wrapped candy and treats may be preferable.
