Plastic Canvas Easter Baskets
Create sweet bunny and unicorn plastic canvas Easter baskets! A fun stitching project to create using yarn and plastic canvas.
Hello Crafty Friends! Today I’m excited to share my new stitched Easter baskets with you! I created a sweet bunny and unicorn Easter basket using plastic canvas and yarn. They take just a few supplies to make and are the cutest little basket when finished.
As someone who loves cross stitch but rarely has the time to finish an entire project, I have found I really enjoy using plastic canvas. The projects go quicker since the canvas is larger and I use yarn instead of embroidery floss. Plastic canvas is sturdy and the holes are larger making it easier to stitch. It is great for beginners as well as experienced stitchers, plus you can make amazing three dimensional creations, like these baskets.
Each Easter basket measures about 3″ x 3″ and is the perfect size for holding sweet treats and Easter gifts. My favorite part of these baskets is that each one has a cute tail on the back. The bunny has a Pom-pom tail and the unicorn has a colorful tassel tail.
Plastic canvas comes in a variety of sizes and colors. For this project I used size 7 clear mesh. The size 7 means there are seven holes per inch. I used mostly white yarn to create my bunny and unicorn as well as small bits of pink and dark purple for the face and ear details. For the basket handles and unicorn horn, I chose to use a fun multi-colored yarn!
How to Download The Patterns
The pattern for these baskets is now available in my Etsy shop, Designing Cheerfully. Thank you for supporting my small business! The listing comes with a pattern, cutting guide and stitching guide for both the bunny and unicorn, as well as a step-by-step picture tutorial. In the tutorial I go into detail about each stitch used and how to join the pieces, so even if you are new to canvas stitching, you can create these baskets.
